You are not the only one
Plenty of our patients put off the dentist for years because of a bad experience, a strong gag reflex, or just nerves. The longer care is put off, the bigger the work tends to get, which makes the next visit even more stressful. Our job is to break that cycle gently. Nobody here will lecture you about how long it has been.
What we do for anxious patients
- Quiet appointments. Ask for a calmer time and a slower pace.
- A break signal. Agree on a hand signal before we start. Raise it and we stop.
- No surprises. Your dentist explains each step before it happens.
- Something else to look at. There are TVs on the ceiling to watch.
- Oral conscious sedation for longer visits, surgery, or when nerves are strong.
How oral conscious sedation works
Health review
Your dentist checks your medical history and medications and decides whether sedation is safe and suitable.
Before the visit
You take the prescribed pill as directed, and a responsible adult brings you in.
During treatment
You feel calm and drowsy but can still respond. Numbing medicine handles the pain.
Going home
Your driver takes you home. Plan to rest for the rest of the day.
Please note: we offer oral conscious sedation only. We do not offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) or IV sedation.
