Accessibility statement
We want every patient to be able to find what they need on this website, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification or other assistive technology.
Our standard
This website is designed and built to conform with theWeb Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA (opens in a new tab), the standard most often used for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Accessibility is built into the site's code, not added with a third-party overlay.
What we have done
- Semantic page structure with landmarks, one main heading per page and headings in logical order
- A "Skip to content" link, and every link, button and menu works with a keyboard alone
- A clearly visible focus outline, with at least 3:1 contrast on every background
- Text color contrast of at least 4.5:1, including text over photos
- Descriptive alternative text on meaningful images, and decorative images hidden from screen readers
- Layouts that reflow at 320 pixels wide and at 200 percent zoom without sideways scrolling
- Animations that respect your device's "reduce motion" setting and stop on their own within five seconds
- Phone numbers you can tap to call, with tap targets at least 44 pixels in size
- Links that open a new tab say so
- Every form field has a visible label, and errors are described in text
Display preferences
Use the round accessibility button in the corner of any page to adjust text size, turn on high contrast, underline links, add reading space, switch to a simpler font, or pause animations. Your choices are saved on your device. These options are a convenience. The site is also designed to work with your own screen reader, browser zoom and system settings.
How we test
We test with automated checks (axe) on every page, by navigating each page with a keyboard only, by checking focus and color contrast on every background, and by testing at small screen sizes with enlarged text spacing. Automated tools find only part of the issues, so we combine them with manual review.
Known limitations
- The map on our contact page is provided by Google Maps. Its accessibility is controlled by Google. Our address and a directions link are always available as plain text.
